Highlights

In 2022, we installed a Siemens SOMSTOM X.cite at our McMaster University Medical Centre, making us the first hospital in Canada to have this type of machine. It provides more functionality, faster processing, and improved image quality. By running this machine 24/7 we’re able to use the newest technology for emergency pediatric patients as well as outpatient pediatric and adult patients.

Also installed in 2022 at our McMaster University Medical Centre is a new MRI machine, the Siemens Sola 1.5T with deep resolve software. Its new automated features allow you to position patients, set up scans, and reconstruct images at a faster rate to improve the efficiency and throughput.

At our Juravinksi Hospital and Cancer Centre, we have new diagnostic imaging technology to better identify life-threatening types of cancer, using the new MRI ultrasound biopsy system which combines MRI with ultrasound to create 3D images.

Our MRI Technologists guide and direct clinical and technical associates and students in our teaching and research environments. A strong partnership with both Mohawk College and McMaster University offers our health-care professionals the opportunity to use a GE Signa Premier 3T.
