Ultrasound Technologist

The innovative Diagnostic Services team at Hamilton Health Sciences is comprised of over 600 members, making it one of the largest in Canada. This team works across our multiple sites in the Greater Hamilton and Niagara regions, providing service 24 hours a day, seven days a week in most areas.

Our Ultrasound Technologists play a vital role as part of this interdisciplinary team, supporting a high volume of diverse adult and pediatric patients, plus an available specialization in high risk obstetric imaging. They lead the technical operation, coordination and quality of service for ultrasound. Our ultrasound technologists also liaise with the senior technologists and radiologists to ensure the technical quality of procedures are performed at the highest level.

Highlights

Our Ultrasound Technologists are set up for success with numerous continuing medical education opportunities. We also encourage them to continually develop their skillset, so we support and facilitate our technologists to become registered in Nuchal translucency exams.

Our ultrasound machines are the Canon Aplio i700 and GE Volusons. Working with new state-of-the-art equipment allows us to provide newer imaging techniques.

At our McMaster University Medical Centre, our newly renovated ultrasound rooms offer dedicated space for our growing pediatric population. They were thoughtfully built to the meet the needs of a growing demand for imaging without radiation for the pediatric population.
