Life at HHS

At Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS), we have a unique role in advancing health care as an academic and research hospital. We are a regional leader in our integration of clinical care, education, and research and innovation.

We are the second-largest teaching hospital in Ontario, training the next generation of health-care professionals in collaboration with our academic partners, including McMaster University and Mohawk College. Our people embrace teaching and mentorship, while our Continuous Quality Improvement system empowers everyone to bring forward ideas and solutions for improving how we work and provide care.

As a Top 40 Research Hospital in Canada, our culture of curiosity and exploration has resulted in a long track record of discoveries that have changed how health care is delivered locally and around the world. This has resulted in attracting top research talent from across Canada and beyond. We have multiple research institutes, in partnership with McMaster University, with expertise in areas such as cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, hematology, senior’s health, and children’s and women’s health, with emerging areas of research in burns, trauma, critical care and brain health.
